Believe it or not, the holidays are just around the corner. We partnered with Nextdoor to create a joint white paper on 2023 holiday trends and insights from consumers across the U.S. These results will be crucial in informing your upcoming campaigns and helping to maximize your holiday marketing budget. Below are our top 3 insights as a sneak peek to the full report.

  1. Black Friday is no longer the initial Holiday shopping go-time. Holiday shopping is a long process that starts earlier and earlier each year. Nextdoor’s survey found that 41% of consumers start their holiday shopping as early as the fall, well before Halloween even. And 55% of consumers will start their shopping on Black Friday this year, while 62% prefer to shop during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend.

  2. Are you easily “influenced?” Depends on your age. How consumers shop and where they get their inspiration for holiday gifts is closely tied to their age group. For example, 57% of consumers aged 18-34 plan to get shopping ideas from social media, with 63% being from TikTok. Despite the difference in age groups, all consumers age 18+ find personalized product recommendations from brands and retailers to be helpful.

  3. Online carts double as shopping lists on mobile. Mobile devices remain a vital tool in holiday shopping, with 74% of participants using their smartphones to build their most recent online orders. Consumers view their online shopping carts as dynamic and adaptable lists, allowing them to modify their selections to suit their evolving needs.
